Hazzan David Presler
Hazzan David M. Presler, Conductor, Composer, Music Educator, Bass Baritone, earned his B.A. and M.S. in Music Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College (2000, 2002), as well as Doctoral Certificate in Jewish Education and Administration at Yeshiva University, 2007
Cantor Presler has served congregations for the past 40 years. He moved to Israel in 2021, and has served as the Conductor of the Great Synagogue of Tel Aviv since on S’lichot and the High Holidays.
David published the last works of Cantor Noah Schall, a Shabbat Anthology entitled T’hilot Netsach, which secretly represents the author’s name, Noach Tsvi – Hazzan! He recorded many of the excerpts and can be heard here.
David has sung opera extensively, his roles including Leporello in Don Giovanni, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Shaunard in La Boheme, the Father in Hansel and Gretel, Papageno in Magic Flute, Escamillo in Carmen and King Phillip in Don Carlos. He also produced Le Nozze di Figaro in Queens, double cast with orchestra.
His song repertoire spans opera, Lieder, Broadway, Cantorial, folk, and sings in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, Spanish, French, German, Russian, English and Italian. David has performed Shubert’s song cycle, Die Winterreise, Schumann’s song cycle: Dichterliebe as well as Don Quichotte by Ibert and Ravel.
As Cantor, he has served congregations for 28 years in the New York area, having composed prolifically for the Sabbath and Holyday services.
